The ashes of a lifelong Cowdenbeath supporter were scattered at Central Park on Saturday.

Players and members of the club's management team watched the fulfilment of Ian Elliot's dying wish, along with friends from Bandrum Nursing Home, where he spent his final years.

Club Development Manager Keith Harvey said, "He was a lifelong supporter. When he went into the nursing home near Saline, he still came to games, no matter the weather. He was a special fan. There aren't too many like him around anymore."

Mr Elliot, who was wheelchair-bound, died in November of last year. He was 52.

Robert Ainslie, one of his carers, said, "Rain, hail or shine he went to Central Park. He loved it. He had shirts pinned to the walls of his room. He had a signed football. He was Cowden daft. He used to make us bow to the shirts when we went into his room. We all miss him."

Reverend David Adams, of Trinity Church, conducted a short service on the pitch.

He said, "It was nice to be able to help fulfil Mr Elliot's wishes. Hopefully the service was meaningful to the people who attended."
