Police have released a list of hotspots which were monitored by officers using speed detection equipment recently.

Several warnings and two fixed penalty tickets were issued when police targeted Main Street, Inverkeithing Road and Springhill Brae, Crossgates; Old Perth Road, Broad Street and Perth Road, Cowdenbeath; Auchterderran Road, High Street and Lumphinnans Road, Lochgelly; Main Road and Cardenden Road, Cardenden; Cocklaw Street, Kelty; and Main Street, Lumphinnans.

Officers deployed the equipment on 33 separate occasions.

Area Chief Inspector Bennet welcomed improvements in driver behaviour. He said, "I am delighted that road users are, in the main, heeding our message to slow down. I view the few occasions in which it has been necessary to issue fixed penalties as a positive sign that our roads are safer.

"Officers are continually thanked by local residents and, indeed, other motorists for their efforts."

He added, "These deployments will continue indefinitely to ensure that our roads continue to be a safer place."
