A COWDENBEATH man has been placed on a restriction of liberty order for nine months after he was found with a knife in his possession.

Christopher Fraser said he was going to use the knife to cut up cannabis for himself and his friend.

Fraser, 34, of Walker Street, previously admitted that on May 8, at Dunfermline Police station and elsewhere, being a public place, did without reasonable excuse or lawful authority, have with him an article which had a blade or was sharply pointed, namely a lock knife.

Police had been requested to attend at a convenience store at about 9pm, Dunfermline Sheriff Court heard on Wednesday.

Whilst there officers had reason to take Fraser to the station where they searched him and found a lock knife in his possession.

Defence solicitor, Stephen Morrison, said: "You will note from the report that that he had taken the knife for a friend as both of them were going to purchase cannabis.

"The knife was going to be used to cut it in two.

"The knife was a collector's item and it was on his person that day because he was attempting to sell it."

Sheriff Charles Macnair told Fraser that this was his "last chance" as he placed him on a community payback order with two years supervision as well as a nine month restriction of liberty order.
