THE charity dinner held on Friday night in aid of Cowdenbeath FC was a huge success.

The special guests and speakers, BBC radio football supporter, Chic Young and former Scotland internationalist and TV personality Frank McAvennie, were at Wee Jimmies backing the Cowdenbeath Supporters Club 100 Club event which raised a considerable sum for the Blue Brazil cause.

Chair of the 100 Club, Scott Southgate: "On behalf of the Supporters' 100 Club I would like to send a big thanks to BBC's Chick Young and ex-Celtic player Frank McAvennie.

"A fantastic night was had hosted by Cowdenbeath F.C chairman Donald Findlay QC who did a great job in his usual flamboyant manner in front of a sell out crowd of 120.

"Many thanks also go to Gary Roy, at Wee Jimmies, and his family and staff for their hard work both on the night and on the lead up to the event. It was a great meal and they helped keep the drinks flowing during the course of the evening. Thanks also to Captain Jimmy Robertson and Alex Haddow for assisting on the night too."

Added Scott: "Lastly thanks to all the people who supported the event by buying tickets and turning up helping make it a great night.

"A few special thanks firstly to Ali Cornbill, who helped play a key role in selling out the event and of course Zoe Smith, for her yet again exemplary efforts in securing fantastic items for auction.

"Now on to the crucial home tie on Saturday where it would be fantastic to see the town of Cowdenbeath turn out in great numbers to help ensure Cowdenbeath F.C can retain their proud over 113 years history in senior football and of course to any neutrals who may wish to consider lending their support. The best of luck to Gary and the team this Saturday".
