COWDENBEATH Rotary Club is to launch a spring initiative to collect old tools for a charity based in the town.

Tools With A Mission, based at Woodend Industrial Estate, collect old and unwanted tools and upgrade these before sending them to the Third World where they can prove life changing.

International convener, Tom Russell, told Thursday's meeting that TWAM collected unwanted tools, refurbished them, sorted them into trade kits and sent them across the world for livelihood creation. TWAM send around 20 containers filled with over 300 tonnes of tools every year.

He added: "To be able to do that they need the raw materials and at this time of year old and unwanted tools may be just thrown out.

"These could have a very valuable role to play in India or Africa so anyone who has old tools they want to get rid of get in touch and we will get them to the TWAM facility in Cowdenbeath."

If you have tools you would like to donate contact secretary@cowdenbeathrotary.org or take them to the Times Office on a Monday or a Friday.
