CHEST Heart & Stroke Scotland’s shop at the Raith Shopping Centre, in Cowdenbeath, suffered over £2500 of damage in addition to loss of earnings following a break-in last night.
One of the large windows was smashed for the thieves to gain access into the shop.
The till area was ransacked and the charity collection tin has been stolen. Not only will there be a financial loss due to repairs to the shop, it is unable to open as yet today.
Shop manager Carol Cook said: “I couldn’t believe it when we arrived at the shop this morning!
"The damage has cost the charity a considerable sum of money that should be going towards our vital services.
"It is shocking to think thieves would target a charity and steal from us as all money raised in our shops helps support much needed services for people affected by chest, heart or stroke illness across Scotland.”
Carol went on to explain: “We’ve always had great support from the local community and as a consequence of the break-in we would like to appeal to locals for donations of good quality ladies clothes so we can try and recoup some of the money lost during this difficult time.”
If you can offer donations or indeed volunteer some time to help Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland in Cowdenbeath, please pop into the shop The Raith Shopping Centre. Or call Carol on tel: 01383 510105.
