A ROW between a Cowdenbeath couple flared up in a pizza shop in the High Street.

George Stewart, 34, of Randolph Street, appeared from custody at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on March 5 at Domino’s, High Street, Cowdenbeath, he assaulted a woman by throwing a sign at her.

Depute fiscal, Claire Kennedy, said: “The accused and the complainer had been drinking.

“At 10.30pm they were walking along High Street in Cowdenbeath when a disagreement occurred.

“The complainer entered Domino’s pizza shop and she was distressed and crying. She asked for someone to call the police. The accused then entered the shop, picked up a ‘wet floor’ sign, raised it above his head and threw it at her.”

Sheriff Derek Reekie, looking at Stewart’s thick file of previous convictions, commented: “It’s hard to pick it up.” He told Stewart: “You have an extraordinary record. Very lengthy and worrying.

“This behaviour would have been alarming for your partner and members of the public who had the misfortune to see it.” The Sheriff called for reports before sentencing on April 11.

He granted bail but told Stewart: “I’ve given you the benefit of the doubt, behave yourself.”
