THE Cowdenbeath invasion of the Ravenscraig Castle beach by Loony Dookers on New Year's Day saw a cheerful atmosphere as people prepared to hit the Forth.

Everyone is very mindful of the 40th anniversary of Cowdenbeath Civic Week being this year and were enjoying being involved in helping raise funds for the event.

One of the dookers was local councillor, Darren Watt, who said: "I am incredibly proud of everyone who took part and I am especially proud of the Cowdenbeath Civic Week Committee.

"Not just for organising this annual event but for their on-going commitment and dedication for our community throughout the year.

"A huge thank you must go to those who sponsored us. Their kindness and generosity will go a long way and make this year's Gala the biggest and best one yet."

The Civic Week Committee's Alex Haddow said: "The theme for this very special Cowdenbeath Gala Parade will be chosen this month and it will be interesting to see what the suggestions are.

"Last year's parade was a mile and a half long, hopefully this year's could be even longer.

"We are hoping to attract more floats and more people to take part in the parade."
