A COWDENBEATH councillor is concerned at the way contractors 'walk away' from new build homes often leaving Fife Council with lots of problems to solve.
Councillor Darren Watt was speaking at Cowdenbeath Area Committee after Area Housing Manager, Russell Gray, said that there had been one or two problems with new builds in estates constructed in the district.
Councillor Watt said: "It is as if contractors just walk away at the end of the 12 month deadline and we find a lot of problems that need tackling.
"There was water running into a garden in one of these situations which was pretty awful for the tenant.
"I wish there was some way we could stop these sort of situations happening and ensure that the contractors do their best to make sure that things are what they should be before they up anchor."
Chair of the Area Committee, Councillor Linda Erskine said: "There have been problems which have come to the surface just after the arrangements have come to an end and it really is not good enough.
"Hopefully there is some way we can ensure that problems are sorted before the contractors disappear."
