BAND The Sunset Spirit showed their community commitment by handing over their gig fee for playing at a local event to a charity which works helping families in the Cowdenbeath-Lochgelly area.

Home-Start Lochgelly, based at BRAG's Crosshill Centre, was visited by Shaun Sneddon from The Sunset Spirit, who told the staff in the charity's office that the band hoped that the donation would help their work at this time of year.

Home-Start Lochgelly's co-ordinator, Tracy McCann, said "thank you" to Shaun and the members of 'The Sunset Spirit' for their very generous donation of £200 which will be used to support families in need in the Cowdenbeath area over the Christmas period.

Shaun Sneddon, guitarist for the band, said: "We were delighted to be asked to play at the Civic Week Committee's Christmas Lights Show in Cowdenbeath this year and we thought we'd pass on the good deed by donating our gig fee to a worthwhile local Children's Charity.

"We chose Home-Start and wish them well in their imminent relocation to Cowdenbeath High Street."

Tracy added that Home-Start was due to move to Cowdenbeath High Street on Monday December 18.

Home-Start is one of the leading family support charities in the UK.

Home-Start volunteers help families with young children deal with the challenges they face. Volunteers support parents as they learn to cope, improve their confidence and build better lives for their children.

Families struggling with post-natal depression, isolation, physical health problems, bereavement and many other issues receive the support of a volunteer who will spend around two hours a week in a family’s home supporting them in the ways they need.
