A LUMPHINNANS man downed a bottle of Buckfast then went to a shop he was banned from and shouted racial abuse at the owner.

Reece Dorsett’s antics were branded “a disgrace” when he appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

Dorsett, 24, of Ochil View, Lumphinnans, admitted that on June 27 at Key Stores, Main Street, Lumphinnans, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by refusing to leave the premises when requested to do so by a member of staff, shouted, swore, behaved in an aggressive manner and made racist remarks.

Depute fiscal, Azrah Yousaf, said the shop owner saw the accused come into the store at around 2pm and recognised him as someone he had previously banned.

She went on: “The accused told the shop owner that he needed to serve him as it was inconvenient for him having to walk to other shops in the area.

“He started to shouting at him. He said, ‘You can’t do this, this is my country. Get back to your own country’.”

Police were contacted and later traced Dorsett. “He told them he’d downed a bottle of Buckfast too quickly and was feeling sick. He went into the shop for water,” added the depute.

Defence solicitor, James Moncrieff, said: “He had a sore stomach and went into the shop for water for these stomach cramps.

“He had drunk the alcohol too quickly and has little recollection of this incident.

"He was banned from the shop because of an allegation he’d stolen alcohol previously.”

Sheriff Derek Reekie told Dorsett: “This behaviour was a disgrace. Drinking is no excuse. You went to the shop having been banned and you should have obeyed that decision.”

He called for reports and Dorsett will be sentenced on January 10. The Sheriff warned Dorsett: “You better not go back into that shop.”
