COWDENBEATH Rotary Club is to continue to promote its support of the Vision Aid project which sees old spectacles sent to the Third World to help give people the chance of being able to see better.
Thursday night's meeting heard that there had been difficulties in processing varifocal glasses, as part of the refurbishment scheme, which saw old specs upgraded and pressed into service in the Third World.
But international convener, Tom Russell, said that the aim now was to recycle all spectacles donated to the cause.
He added: "In 2017 the Cowdenbeath club, thanks to the public, have sent 650 pairs of specs to be refurbished before being sent abroad.
"Up until now varifocal glasses have been a problem but now these set-backs have been overcome and we can now take all types.
"In 2018 we want to keep up our support for Vision Aid and with the help of local opticians and the person in the street, we can hopefully send hundreds of specs abroad which will improve people's quality of life."
