BEATH High School's Partnership with Mapanga and Njale schools in Malawi takes another step forward this month when three staff members from Beath, who were out in Malawi last October, visit the partners once again.

Mrs Barker-Harrison, Mrs McNicol and Miss Brown, joined by a former colleague, Miss Jamieson, will be visiting both schools, and their communities, to continue the work from the last visit.

They will continue to work with Beath's friends in Malawi to improve their learning environment.

They are going to provide CPD in the delivery of Art lessons to staff colleagues and they will also further strengthen the ties by starting to draw up a full Partnership Agreement with the committees in the two schools. Exciting times indeed.

The Beath community is also very grateful to all the cluster primaries and to the local public for their continued support and the photos show Hill of Beath Primary football team when they popped in recently to donate football strips.

The primary pupils were met, welcomed and thanked by senior pupils showcasing the items donated and the strips will already be in Malawi by the time you read this.

Other photos show staff and pupils in the two schools with materials that the Beath Malawi Partnership have provided. These materials will enhance the learning and teaching experience for the pupils.

Beath’s work with their partners continues to be recognised nationally when three of the pupils who were in Malawi last year were invited to speak about their experience at the Scotland Malawi Partnership AGM held in Edinburgh last weekend.

In front of a large and appreciative audience and talking the theme of ‘Partnership’, Niamh Scott, Victoria Warnock and Michael King spoke with passion and conviction about the impact of our work on learning and teaching in our partner schools – as well as about the impact it has had on them individually. They made the staff that were present very proud indeed.
