THE Rainbow Run is always a great day for the kids of Cowdenbeath's St Bride's Primary School.

And while there was a slightly different look to the eager field of runners they had yet another brilliant day in good weather.

Said the school's depute headteacher, Ryan Delaney: "Our Annual Rainbow Run at St Bride’s looked slightly different this year.

"Children were dressed in their ‘House Colours’ of Red, Blue, Yellow and Green. We asked each house to gain as many sponsors from friends and families as they could as this money goes towards providing our children with experiences outwith school such as trips."

Ryan added: "Much of the money this session will go towards paying for resources for artist, Zoe Gruber, to work with older children to research the history of Cowdenbeath and then to transfer their findings onto a mural on the walls of the playground.

"The response from our community has been fantastic and goes to show their commitment to working with us to provide the best experiences possible whilst being at St Bride’s."

The Barclay Street school has had a re-launch of their School House System. Mrs Logan, a Class Teacher, worked hard with staff to think about how they could further enhance the activities children do in their Houses.

The Houses are named after saints and have a colour to match. St Anthony is red, St Christopher is yellow, St Andrew is Blue and St Francis is green.

Went on Ryan: "Children are placed in a house from P1 and join the same house as other family members. We encourage children to make good choices and to be ‘spotted’ for doing so.

"They love to receive ‘House Points’ and once they have received twenty points they are awarded a sticker. Then after the children have achieved one-hundred points they are awarded a Headteacher’s certificate at assembly.

"As well as being able to achieve individual points we encourage children to work in teams to gain as many points for their house as possible. Each term we have a ‘winning house’ and they are awarded a House Treat".
