COWDENBEATH Leisure Centre has star quality and that is official.

Having recently celebrated its thirtieth birthday, one of Fife’s most popular leisure centres has star quality according to a recent inspection by Scotland’s national tourist organisation.

Visit Scotland has given Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre a three-star rating, highlighting ‘very efficient and amicable manner’ of staff and ‘very good cleanliness standards’ as major assets to the overall visitor experience.

The facility which is managed and operated by Fife Sports and Leisure Trust – the region’s leading provider of sports and leisure services – held celebrations in May to mark thirty years since the doors opened on the centre.

The report acknowledges that, although the building is 30 years-old, maintenance has been carried out very effectively and most areas still appear fresh and in very good order.

The Visit Scotland inspector said: “All areas were viewed, and, the standard of maintenance appeared to be very good throughout, including for example the pool and very fresh looking sports hall.”

Sharon Johnstone, area leisure manager for Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, said: “The three-star rating is excellent news for Cowdenbath, and, I am particularly pleased that the inspection focused so highly on our customer service and cleanliness.

“Cowdenbeath is part of the trust’s £1.1 million gym refurbishment programme which will see a significant improvement to the equipment and layout of the facility’s gym to a larger space – we hope initiatives like this will continue to improve the customer experience and our grading in future.”

Figures recently released by the Trust shows that Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre continues to be popular with the local community, recording 224,318 attendances for April 2016 to March 2017.
