COWDENBEATH boss Billy Brown is pleased to now confirm that John Ovenstone has joined Cowdenbeath as player/assistant manager.

John is a vastly experienced player - a centre back or left back - and has previously played senior with East Fife, Forfar, Alloa and Stenhousemuir. Subsequently, he turned down other senior offers to join Linlithgow Rose.

Since 2015, John has been player manager at Tayport and he now leaves Canniepairt to come to Central Park.

The big Fifer adds a wealth of experience to the Cowden squad and is looking forward to working with Billy as assistant manager at Central Park.

With Jim Moffat having taken on the goalkeeping coaching role last week Mr Brown has completed his backroom team.

John Ovenstone will add another player to the squad but the manager is keen to add at least three more before the transfer window closes.

Meanwhile young attacking midfielder Jack Whittaker sustained a bad foot injury against Buckie Thistle which could sideline him for a few weeks.

However, defender Shaun Rutherford's injury in that game is not as bad as first feared but he still could miss a couple of games.
