IT has been an exciting time for staff at the Cowdenbeath Morrison's Store with some outstanding fundraising being achieved and the revamped facility at the Raith Centre on High Street set to be re-launched.

The Morrison's charity total for this year already stands at a fantastic £10,524.37 for local groups and charities.

A bucket collection at checkouts raised £408 for Maggies Centre in Kirkcaldy and a Marie Curie weekend raised £1,116.87. They also had a great response to fundraising for a colleague's daughter with "Stand Up for Emma".

Led by Kirsty Ferguson and Jane Bruce, a sponsored walk around Lochore Meadows, a staff bake sale and raffle raised an incredible £2,800.

The store's Community Champion, Deborah Graham said: "None of this would be possible without our community and we would like to thank all our customers, friends and family for their support.

"But the fundraising did not stop there as buckets at checkouts raised money for Cowdenbeath Civic Week and then RAF Cadets were in bag packing on Armed Forces Day, to raise funds for their chosen services charity. Every penny collected is really making a difference in the community.

"In addition we have also been helping our community with donations of good or vouchers totalling over £800 so far this year, from playgroups and schools to local clubs, groups and charities from Crossgates through to Benarty, Kelty and Cardenden.

"We have also been supporting local youth programmes including Kick Start, a football themed initiative with Police Scotland and local schools to encourage learning, improve health and well being. The pictures show a small selection of some of the support we have been able to provide".

Added Deborah: "We are also pleased to advise that Morrisons now have a new charity partner, CLIC Sargent, and Morrisons as a whole are looking to raise £8 Million in the fight to stop cancer destroying young lives. We'll be holding events within the store throughout the year to help support this wonderful charity. To find out more please visit clicsargent.org.uk/morrisons.

"The store has just undergone a major renovation and will re-open this Thursday with a special day of events including a special visit from Bluebell the Coo. The re-launch ceremony will be at 11am."
