OVER the summer months Cowdenbeath Rotary Club is collecting tools for TWAM, at Woodend Industrial Estate in the town.

Tools With A Mission has a refurbishment centre there where old tools that are no longer needed by people can be refurbished ready to send to the Third World where these can be the difference between families being able to feed themselves and not.

At Thursday's meeting International Convener, Tom Russell, reported: "We have already collected quite a few tools from members and the public and it is something we intend to keep on doing over the summer months.

"The TWAM base, at Woodend, will welcome these and can turn them into something that will be well used in places such as Africa.

"These tools can be vital to families to help them grow their own crops."

Meanwhile Tom also reported that over £380 had been donated by the club to the Rotary Foundation Purple Foundation appeal through members buying jars of the purple jam and filling these with loose change. There was still some more money to come in, he added, for the campaign fighting bidding to rid the world of polio.
