JULY is a big month for the volunteers who work hard to make Cowdenbeath look good throughout the summer months.

For this is when then Beautiful Fife judging takes place and Cowdenbeath Environmental Group is looking forward to helping get as high a rating as possible for the town.

Of course it is not just during the 'growing months' that the Group's volunteers are in action.

They work hard in the Millenium Garden in Perth Road and also the Community Woodland, on the road to Crossgates, ensuring that things are kept as good as possible.

They have had a few set-backs over the past few months including people setting small camp fires in the Community Woodland and leaving rubbish in important areas.

But they have tackled these well and also they have been putting planters in the High Street to ensure it look's as good as possible for the visit of the judges.

They will be keeping going right up and beyond the visit of the judging panel.

Said a spokesperson for the Enviro Group: "We really have to thank the many volunteers throughout the year who have given up there spare time helping out the Environmental Group.

"It has been great to have so many youngsters helping us, they are really enthusiastic and do a great job.

"That includes making bird boxes for the Woodland.

"Most of the work done has been carried out at the Millennium Garden and the Community Woodland and of course the planting of tubs on the High Street.

"The Beautiful Fife judging day is on July 28 and we're hoping for a good mix of weather that will enhance the tubs and baskets."
