A HILL of Beath man who drove a motorbike while under the influence of drugs has been disqualified from driving for 18 months and fined £400.
John McKenzie was driving through road works when he collided with another car's bumper. When police officers arrived it was clear to them that McKenzie was under the influence.
McKenzie, 47, of Torbeith Gardens, previously admitted that on December 11, 2016, in a road or other public place, namely Broad Street, Cowdenbeath, he when driving a mechanically propelled vehicle, namely a motor bike, was unfit to drive through drink or drugs.
Depute fiscal, Dev Kapadia, told Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Wednesday: "On the day in question there were road works in Cowdenbeath and traffic lights that were stemming the flow of traffic.
"A motor bike collided with another car's bumper and when police arrived it was clear that the accused was under the influence.
"His sister confirmed that the accused was on a methadone programme and Mr McKenzie confirmed to paramedics that he was on heroine. A £10 bag of the substance was found on him."
Defence solicitor, Elaine Buist, confirmed to the Court that Mr McKenzie provided a negative alcohol reading from a breathalyser and that he held a provisional driver's license.
