BEING named the best of British could send the owners of a Cowdenbeath cafe to the Caribbean.

Kassy's Kitchen, on the High Street, is again in the running to be voted the best in the land.

They were the Central Scotland regional winners in the 2016 Britain's Best Cafe and went down to London to compete for the national title.

Owners Jim and Caroline Paterson missed out on that occasion, to the 'Super Sausage Cafe' in the East Midlands, but victory this time could see them jetting off to Cuba for a sunshine holiday.

Jim said: "Last year’s competition lifted the whole community and created a real buzz in the town.

"All the locals supported us and my daughter Lissa threw herself into it totally.

“Our small team were really motivated to get customers voting for us and we hope to repeat our success in 2016 and even go one better to take the national title.”

The national competition is organised by SIG Roofing and its local branch will be supporting Kassy's in its bid to win the title.

Customers and members of the public will be able to back their favourite and the votes will be counted at the end of September, when 14 regional winners will be announced.

The title of Britain's Best Cafe will then be presented at a glitzy ceremony in November and if Jim and Caroline strike it lucky, they could be jetting off for a fabulous holiday to the Caribbean island of Cuba, where they can enjoy some of the world's most beautiful beaches and sample local delicacies.

SIG Roofing’s branch manager at Kirkcaldy, Colin Hynd, said: “We think our customers and the contractors who use the local cafes every day are ideal to judge which cafe is Britain’s best.

"They work hard, start early and are always on the lookout for a cafe with great food, cheerful and friendly staff, however we want everyone to join in the fun and that’s why we open up the voting to the local community.”

Anyone who wants to support Kassy’s Kitchen can either visit the nearest SIG Roofing branch to vote or go online at www.britainsbestcafe.co.uk.

Voting opens on July 17.
