IT'S Cowdenbeath's Gala Day on Saturday with thousands of people expected to join the fun.

After a fantastic civic week, with golf and bowling competitions, visits from the Royal party to local care homes, five-a-side football tournament, children's disco and wheelbarrow races, it's time for the main event.

The bunting is decking the streets all ready for the gala parade, which is expected to be one of the biggest the town has seen.

And with a good vs evil theme, there's sure to be plenty of colourful characters, from wicked witches and storm troopers to Snow White and super heroes.

The parade will feature 20 floats, dancers, bands and local organisations, as well as gala queens from down the years, and leaves Woodend car park at noon.

It will head down Broad Street before turning onto High Street, past Green Square, along Foulford Road and Leuchatsbeath Drive before arriving at Beath High School's playing fields.

Wristbands are available to buy to ensure your child gets access to all the rides in the park and there's plenty to choose from with waltzers, bungees, a climbing wall, merry-go-round, bouncy castles, ball pond, quad bikes, gala slides, a rodeo bull and so much more.

There will also be wrestling, dance teams and majorette displays, while it should be noted the ponies and sideshows are not covered by the unlimited ride wristband deal.

This year's Cowdenbeath Civic Week Royal party is Queen Colby McDonald, princesses Sydney Leitch and Hannah Little and ambassador John Jack Bell.

Citizen of the year, Wilma Aitchison, will also join the parade.
