A LUMPHINNANS couple have time on their hands after retiring from running the village shop.
Joe and Kaur Sallan ran the store for 32 years and as a thank-you for their dedicated service, they were presented with a wall clock and flowers by Jim Martin, from the community council.
Villagers and all four Fife councillors turned out to wish the couple well and Cllr Darren Watt said: "It was a pleasure to be invited along to mark such a wonderful occasion.
"People like Joe and Kaur are the lifeblood of our communities.
"It was a lovely gesture by the residents of Lumphinnans to present them with gifts to show their recognition to such a dedicated and inspirational couple. We wish them well in their retirement.”
The couple are so well thought of that, last month, Lumphinnans Social Group organised a surprise retirement party for Joe and Kaur and presented them with gifts and flowers.
