COWDENBEATH must start hitting the net again to ensure they stay in the SPFL.

After Saturday’s battling goalless draw at East Kilbride Cowden, have the chance to win the tie at home this Saturday and ensure safety.

But the fans will feel a little concerned that Cowden have gone over three hours without hitting the net now and they will want that to change this Saturday in a game which has a 2pm kick-off.

Cowden missed yet another penalty at the K-Park when Kyle Miller saw his penalty saved by EK’s Matt McGinley, but there were other chances for the Blue Brazil in a game which saw the home side have the better of possession.

However, it was a technically tricky game on Saturday, having to go to the home of the Lowland League champions, and they came back with another shut-out so hopes will be high that a good turn out of home fans sees the job completed.

Cowden boss Gary Locke was a little disappointed not to come back from East Kilbride with a lead: “They certainly came at us at times but I felt that the defence coped pretty well and when they did get through Jamie Sneddon was in good form.

“Like at Elgin we had a couple of really good chances to score and of course we just cannot seem to convert from the penalty spot at the moment.

“However, we are very much in this and if we can continue to create the quality of chances we have been we can get the job done.”

But he warned: “East Kilbride will see Saturday’s 90 minutes as their big chance to get into the league so they will give it their all and we have to be ready to meet that challenge.

“If we do we can create the openings that we need to get some goals and the result we so very much want, although it will be a big test.”

The manager hopes that the Cowden fans will come out in big numbers on Saturday to shout his team on to the victory Cowdenbeath so badly needs.

He added: “The players want to give the supporters the win they so desperately want so hopefully the fans will turn up in big numbers on Saturday to encourage the lads.”

Cowden will again be without Shaun Rutherford through suspension, but there were no injury problems from Saturday and the recast defence, with Gerry McLauchlan given another run in the middle area and the fleet footed David Syme at left-back.

In midfield Cowden were not quite so dominant as they have been in past games so Robbie Buchanan might be given a run instead of Lewis Moore.

This match will kick off at Central Park this Saturday at 2pm.   The match is a fully segregated game and thus the club's standard formal segregation arrangements will apply  - that means that home fans will be housed in the stands on the north side of the ground with visiting supporters being accommodated on the South terracing.  Both sets of fans will enter from the High Street end of the ground.

Admission prices are £10 for Adults and £5 for concessions (65 and over, 16 and under, disabled and students - suitable ID may be requested).  Season tickets are not valid for this match.
