THE Dora Course was voted a winner by Ballingry man Derek Ritchie who organised a highly successful fundraiser for the Erskine facility which cares for forces veterans.

Derek organised a sponsored golf event which was staged at the Cowdenbeath course and 12 teams of four players took part in a shot gun start event.

It was a fundraiser which included an auction and Derek was delighted with some of the prizes he was able to get for the event.

The event raised a total of £2778.60 for Erskine and Derek said this week: "I must thank everyone who took part from all over the country.

"The support from the Fife Golf Trust and the staff at the Dora made it a very special day.

"Everyone who took part thoroughly enjoyed themselves and have agreed that we should make this an annual event."

Derek has been part of the Royal Corps of Transport set-up at Elgin Street, Dunfermline, for many years and has been impressed with the work done at Erskine and is very keen to raise as much money as possible for the cause.

He added: "We had some excellent backing from sponsors such as MGM Timber and Remax and the Fife senior football clubs among many.

"We will be going through to Erskine at the end of the month to present a cheque to the organisation."
