FIFE Science Festival will be rocketing into Central Fife this month with a range of action-packed, family fun.

Organisers stopped off at Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre and launched a bottle rocket to show the countdown for the annual event is now underway.

Inspirational activities highlighting the wonders of science – covering everything from engineering and computing to wind power and our very own insides – will take place at the centre on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 May.

Visitors will be encouraged to get hands-on with and the first day, 'A Day in the Life of....', will shed light on the many exciting career opportunities within Fife.

There will be the chance to meet and mingle with University of St Andrews scientists, as well as those working in engineering locally.

The following day, ‘Science Adventure’ will let visitors explore the challenges in designing train stations, witness live demonstrations of medieval combat, learn about boat-building and investigate their own anatomy!

Budding scientists will also be able to get to grips with electric engineering and discover how psychologists study how children think and learn.

Fife Science Festival will culminate with a ‘Meet the Expert’ event at Dundee Science Centre on Saturday 10 June, with free tickets available to Fife locals.

Unable to wait till the end of May? There will also be a chance to get a taste of what is to come at a special busking event with Dundee Science Centre's team at the Green Space in Cowdenbeath on Saturday May 20 between 11am and 3pm.
