A COWDENBEATH girls has been awarded a prestigious Scout award.

Lauren Watt is a Scout with the 46th Fife Scout Troop, in Wemyss Street and not only has Lauren been completing her Scout badges she has also been volunteering to assist others.

Lauren has recently received the prestigious 100 hours Saltire Volunteering Award.

This is an accumulation of hours from helping with the 46th Beaver Colony and her hours with Civic Week Committee helping at the Cowdenbeath Gala Events, the town's Community Choir etc.

It has also helps her with her Duke of Edinburgh award hopes which she will start in the near future.

Graham Gilbert the 46th Group Scout Leader said: "We are really proud of Lauren’s achievement as she is an outstanding Scout and highly regarded for her work with the Beaver Colony by the Beaver Scout Leaders.

"She is a great example of just what young people can achieve if they set their mind to it. The Scout troop always welcome girls as well as boys and at present girls make up 50% of the members".
