A GROUP of 13 staff and pupils set off for Italy in the early hours for an exciting ski-ing visit, the first stop being Edinburgh Airport.

It was a nice change to fly and on arrival in Geneva they were picked up by coach and had the relatively short two and a half hour journey in to resort.

Boots and skis were fitted, ready for Monday morning and the first day on the slopes. The majority of the group were beginners so started on the nursery slopes, learning how to place their weight on the skis, how to get them on and off, how to fall down and get back up – sounds easy but actually quite hard work.

By the end of the day the group were going up and down the nursery slopes with ease…and one or two falls.

As the week went on the progress was fantastic. The beginners were quick to move on to the higher slopes utilising the cable car and chair lifts to take them up the mountain. Meanwhile the intermediate skiers were accessing the snow park, flying over jumps and even attempting a black run!

The Beath skiers were lucky to have blue skies and sunshine every day which made perfect conditions for learning. Their last day, however, brought the snow and the cold in huge amounts. A fun but chilly experience for everyone!

Ice skating, bowling, disco, pizza night and even Italian lessons were some of the activities for evening entertainment. At the end of the week the group were presented with their Ski Star certificates rewarding the level they had achieved. The fantastic week for everyone.

Thanks went to Mr Husband for accompanying the group and to all at Interski for another awesome week on snow!
