LEUCHATSBEATH Drive in Cowdenbeath is to be the latest road in the town to get speed humps.

Councillors made the decision on Wednesday after Cowdenbeath Area Committee heard that the housing developments in that sector of the town were growing.

Phil Clarke, of Traffic Management, told the meeting that speed surveys had shown that there was reasonable compliance with the 20mph sector outside Foulford Primary School during school times but Leuchatsbeath Drive was a well used road outwith school times for access to the nearby park and wider community.

Also with new housing development to the north, the volume of traffic and pedestrians on the road had increased and there was more homes being built.

He recommended the introduction of speed humps to improve safety and address local concerns and this was agreed by the committee members.

There will be four cushions placed on sites running past the Johnston Park estate.
