PUPILS from Beath High’s Music Department donated money to buy essential life-saving equipment for UNICEF – a worldwide charity for children in desperate need.

Pupils were asked to donate £1 with the target of £500. They exceeded the target and achieved a fantastic total of £600 in just four weeks.

This enabled the Beath contributors to buy a water pump which provides clean water for an entire community.

In addition, 200 lives will be able to be saved with the purchase of measles vaccines and a further 20 families will be protected with mosquito nets. Blankets for babies, emergency supplies, high energy biscuits and paste for children with malnutrition were also purchased.

Said one of the pupils involved: "Once again this is a brilliant example of global citizenship in action with Beath High pupils demonstrating their generosity and compassion to enrich the lives of children all over the world in a worse position than themselves".
