THE weather gods shone on the Fife Inter Clubs Association’s family fun day out at Craigtoun Park, St Andrews, last Wednesday.

Children, parents and grandparents, from as far afield as Valleyfield, Rosyth, Cardenden, Kirkcaldy and Kinglassie, had a great day out at the park and took part in a host of events.

On their arrival at Craigtoun the children were given their box of goodies plus juice and crisps, while there was a cup of tea or coffee for the adults.

Compere for the day was the Association secretary, Jim Paul, who did a first class job and he was assisted by committee members and helpers.

The clubs were blessed with some good weather and they were able to hold all of their children’s and adult races during the course of the day.

There was also the gala queen competition , beat the goalie, the seven-a-side competition and of course the Tug o’ War.

The Association was very grateful for the assistance from the staff at Craigtoun Park, which everyone agreed is the ideal venue for a family day out.

It was generally accepted that this year’s event was another outstanding success and the Inter Clubs committee forwarded their thanks to the member clubs for attending.

The Tug o’ War was organised by Cardenden celebrity Willie (Dunk the Hunk) Duncan who also refereed the event and there were some enthusiastic competitors.

The Association president, Alex Burns MBE, forwarded a special thanks for the assistance from various sources, including Fife Council, plus the assistance of from members of the Inter Clubs organising committee and helpers.

Mr Burns continued by thanking Ore Valley Housing Association for providing transport for the cakes, juice, crisps, seven-a-side goals and other items needed to make the day the success it was.
