AN amateur snapper from Kinglassie is in the running to secure a podium finish in a nationwide photography contest.

Kevin Hunter (48), has sped through to the final 60 in ‘Moto Foto’, the annual photo-biking competition organised by the UK and Ireland’s leading motorcycle insurance brokers Carole Nash.

Moto Foto, which this year has received a record-breaking number of entries, capitalises on the biking community’s passion for stunning machines and fuses that with another popular British pastime, photography.

There are three categories in this year’s competition: Action; Scenic/Touring; and Static/Art.

Education Facility Officer Kevin, a keen biker himself and owner of a Yamaha YZF R1 2004, entered his picture of an Imre Toth World Superbike rider in Portugal into Moto Foto’s Action category, and he has now been shortlisted by a panel of biking and photography experts.

If crowned the overall winner, Kevin will win £1000 in cash plus a top-of-the-range Nikon D7200 digital camera worth £1199.99.

All 12 frontrunners will also see their photo featured in Carole Nash’s official 2016 calendar, which will be handed out to thousands of bike fans at the Motorcycle Live show taking place at the NEC in Birmingham in November.

Kevin said, “I’m over the moon to hear that my photo has been selected as one of the finalists by Carole Nash, and I’m really hoping I can make it to the next level.

“It would be fantastic to be one of the lucky 12 and have my work appear in the company’s calendar.

“And of course I’d also love to win the competition. Who wouldn’t like £1,000 and brand new camera?! I have my fingers crossed!” Rebecca Donohue, Head of Marketing at Carole Nash, said, “We really loved Kevin’s picture. It was extremely difficult this year in narrowing down the entries, as we had so many good calibre photos. From my perspective, it’s great to see so many people taking part in their passion for photography combined with biking!” To find out if Kevin makes it into the final 12, where you can vote for him to win, visit http://www.carolenash.com/motofoto
