THE Bowhill Swimming Pool will be shut for the foreseeable future after fire struck on Friday night.
The outbreak occurred at the back of seven o'clock in the sauna area and a pall of smoke soon hang over the village.
Both units at Lochgelly Fire station were on the scene quickly and they were joined by colleagues from Kirkcaldy and they soon had the blaze under control.
However, although the fire was contained to the sauna area of the swimming pool and no one was injured in the incident, there was considerable damage to the locus and smoke and water damage to other parts of the building.
The Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, who operate the facility, indicated that it will have to remain closed in the short term while damage is assessed and repairs are carried out.
