CARDENDEN Community Council is concerned that Fife Council are believed to be proposing to close a number of community buildings in the ABCD area.
Council secretary David Taylor indicated that premises thought to be under closure consideration included the Corrie Centre, Cardenden Library, Dundonald Institute and the Ore Valley HA/Local Office.
Said Mr Taylor, “These, together with the proposed closure of Auchterderran Centre, in Woodend Road, will have a devastating effect on our community.
“These buildings may be considered a liability to the Council, but these are an asset in our community.
“This, together with the proposed Boundary Changes, will also mean that the staff in these buildings will have to be relocated.
“From national press reports it would appear that the economy is recovering, which should now be reflected down to local level”.
The matters will be discussed further at the next Community Council meeting on 16th April.
