THE ‘magnificent’ turnouts at Remembrance services held in the Central Fife area has been praised by MP Lindsay Roy.

He said, “Remembrance Sunday gave us a chance to show our gratitude to our Armed Servces and recognise those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of our country.

“This year’s commemorations were particularly poignant because they mark the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War.

“It was an incredible tribute to our servicemen and women and veterans, and their families, to see such magnificent turnouts at Remembrance Services throughout my constituency.

“And as we reflected on the loss of that generation who went to war in 1914, we were also keenly aware of those who currently serve, most notably those who are returning home from Afghanistan.” Continued Mr Roy, who praised the big turn out in Cardenden, “We are all in their debt yet, sadly, some of our wonderful service personnel occasionally face discrimination.

“These are the bravest of men and women who put country and community before self, and I am pleased, therefore, that there are moves to make this illegal.

“These are truly local heroes and they deserve our utmost respect and support, and to be treated with dignity, at all times.”
