ROADWORKS on the B981 through Cluny are now complete. Residents and road users were glad to hear Fife Council has completed the works two weeks ahead of schedule.

Councillor Pat Callaghan, Executive Spokesperson for Environment and Transportation said, “Improving Fife’s road network is a priority for the Council.

“We’ve spent over £250,000 in Cluny, making major improvements to the road and surrounding areas. Finishing the roadworks two weeks ahead of schedule is an added bonus; people can get back to their normal routines now.

“I’d like to thank residents and road users for their patience and co-operation during these works.” These works costs around £260,000 and included, removing the temporary supports to the bridge; carrying the B981 over the Den Burn; extending the structure that allows water to flow under the road; embankment and road widening; new footpath linking the two parts of the village; road resurfacing; BT cable diversion; new sewage pipe and diversion; new street lighting column; and tree planting.

Alistair Donald, (Service Manager) explained, “Initially we expected these works to take 12 weeks with an eight week road closure. But thanks to the excellent efforts of everyone involved we’ve completed these works two weeks ahead of schedule.” Public transport serving this area is back to normal now.
