FORESTRY Commission Scotland and Cardenden and District Local History Group are hosting a woodland celebration day on Sunday 27th from 11am to 4pm.

Local people are invited to go along to The Corrie Centre to see a display on Cardenden woods and find out about the area’s rich history between 11am and 12pm.

Setting off from The Corrie Centre at noon, there will be two guided walks taking place to the Duel Cairn to show the heritage features within Cardenden woods, and a storyteller for children.

A bus will has been arranged to take people with less mobility from the Corrie Centre to the Duel Cairn to get out and enjoy some of the woods.

Jenny Ventham, Community Ranger at Forestry Commission Scotland, commented, “There is a wealth of heritage hidden away and some great stories to tell at Cardenden woods. We hope to share these stories with as many people as possible on the day.

“Be sure and wear wellies or walking shoes - the paths are uneven and muddy in places. We look forward to seeing you there.” After the walks Cardenden Scouts will be selling refreshments for a small fee. Burgers are being supplied by Kirk Butchers and the bread rolls by Cardenden Superstore.
