THE Pink McKenzie Zumbathon held in Cardenden on Friday was a massive success.
Well over 100 people turned out for the event and raised over £3,000 for the Maggies charity in memory of the Cardenden woman Laura McKenzie.
Said Heather Payne, who helped organise the event in the Bowhill Centre: "It went amazingly well and was an amazing turn out!
"We had around 120 turn up! We raised a total of £3,257.29 which will be donated to Maggies.
“Well I hope everyone had a great time last night! The atmosphere was absolutely amazing.
"We would like to thank Claire Chrisp, Amanda Smith and Caroline Scott, the zumba instructors, for a great energetic and loud playlist that got everybody involved!"
She added: "We would also like to thank everyone who came along, donated, sponsored and helped make the event run as smoothly as it did!
"We would also like to put out a special thank you to all of the staff at the Co-op for their great efforts with helping the fundraising."
Laura McKenzie was preparing for her wedding day when she lost her courageous battle on July 15, 2008. She was 24.
Almost a decade on, her Cardenden parents want to raise £10,000 to mark the 10th anniversary of her death and the Zumbathon was part of this.
