CARDENDEN Community Council has made a plea to the public to help catch the vandals who damaged the John Thomson Football Centre in the village.

Mindless vandals have tried their best to ruin the 3G pitch at Wallsgreen Park.

Both the pitch and the John Thomson sign had red and blue paint thrown at them late last weekend.

Chair of the Cardenden Community Council and member of the John Thomson Committee, Dave Roy, said: “The actions of the vandals who have done this will not break the good community spirit we have in Cardenden.

"They have in fact impacted mainly on the people who the pitch was built for, our young people.

"Cardenden has a proud heritage in the field of football having produced several Scottish internationalists over the years.

"We hope that the community can pull together and identify who did this and ensure that legal action is taken against the perpetrators".

Mr Roy added: "If you have any information as to who may be responsible please contact Police Scotland or you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
