A CARDENDEN man who assaulted his partner by compressing her neck and punching her was placed on a community payback order this week.

Appearing for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Wednesday, Robert Frew, 41, of Keirs Brae, had previously admitted that on December 23, he assaulted assault a woman by seizing hold of her by the neck, compressing it and repeatedly punching her to the body to her injury

He also behaved in a threatening or abusive manner which was likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear or alarm in that he shouted, swore, acted in an aggressive manner and repeatedly kicked the walls and doors of his house.

Solicitor Gwen Haggerty said alcohol was behind the incident.

"Mr Frew doesn't have very much recollection of the offences," she told the Court. "He takes responsibility for his behaviour. It appears alcohol consumption is an issue."

Sheriff Craig McSherry placed Frew on a community payback order with a supervision order for 12 months and a requirement to carry out 125 hours of community service within six months.
