MP Lesley Laird is urging groups and charities in the Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath constituency to apply for funding from E.ON before time runs out later this month.

E.ON has re-opened its Energising Communities Fund and is seeking applications for funds of up to £2,000 to cover the full or partial cost of energy-related improvements and activities.

Organisations such as scouts groups could benefit strongly from applying to this source of funding and just recently the 4th Fife Cardenden have been working on hall improvments.

Since launching the fund in 2013, E.ON has distributed over £140,000 to almost 85 community groups nationwide to fund energy-related projects.

A E.ON spokesman said: “We understand that heating bills can account for a large part of the running costs for a community group or charity so their need to become energy efficient and save on costs is really important. Through this fund we hope to assist these groups and charities to become more sustainable and begin to lower these costs.”

Lesley Laird added: “To be eligible for funding, organisations must submit a request by midnight on Monday, January 29, 2018.

"It is certainly worth groups in the Cowdenbeath-Lochgelly area investigating if they can tap into the fund.
