A CARDENDEN man assaulted his girlfriend and threw her out of his home after she refused to make him a cup of coffee.

Conor McNamee lost his temper and threw the woman down a flight of stairs before using part of his damaged front door to hit her.

The violence resulted in McNamee, 43, of Woodend Park, appearing in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on October 28 at his home he assaulted his then partner by repeatedly pushing her on the body and down stairs, seized her by the body, threw her down stairs and then repeatedly struck her with a door trim, all to her injury.

Depute fiscal, Azrah Yousaf, said the couple had been together for about six weeks when the incident occurred.

There had been some small arguments between the pair earlier and then at around 1am McNamee asked her to make him a cup of coffee.

“She declined and matters became more fraught. As she tried to get out of the house, he approached her and pushed her. She fell down two stairs and as she tried to get up he threw her down stairs to the front door,” added the depute.

The woman was kicking, trying to get out and when a trim came off the door, McNamee used it to repeatedly hit her.

The woman sustained numerous bruises to her forearm and leg.

The Court was told McNamee had previously been a heroin user but had been on a methadone prescription for three years.

Sheriff Craig McSherry fined McNamee £400 and ordered him to pay £150 compensation.
