VOLUNTARY and community groups will have a chance to share in a £7,000 funding pot from the Cardenden Community Fund at a special event, Cardenden Community Craic.

Local people will get the chance to make the decisions about where the money goes.

Interested groups can apply for up to £500 for projects or activities that benefits others in the community and pitch their idea at the Community Craic Event, on November 8. The event is open to the whole community to celebrate and showcase the work of local groups as well as allowing them to vote on their favourite projects.

Rachel Searle-Mbullu, Head of Communities at Foundation Scotland, said: “Not only will this event celebrate the work of local groups in Cardenden; it encourages the community to take more ownership of the fund, by having a say in how the money is distributed.”

The Fund is provided by Infinis the owner of the Westfield Wind Farm and managed on their behalf by Foundation Scotland. Westfield Wind Farm Ltd will provide £37,500 per annum for the life of the wind farm which is expected to be up to 25 years, with the monies being split between the communities of Cardenden, Kinglassie and Benarty.
