THE 4th Fife Scouts showed off their camping skills and broke an 11 year stranglehold to win the Jubilee Trophy.

A five-strong group from the Cardenden pack upset the odds to triumph in the competition at Fordell Firs near Dunfermline.

Scouts from the 5th Fife pack in Kirkcaldy had won the trophy every year since 2006 but this year the 4th Fife finished on top.

One of the leaders, Jim McGuinness, who won the Times' Community Champion award last year, said: "They broke the mould to win it as the 5th Fife have dominated this competition.

"It was a great effort and well deserved."

Youngsters from the 4th Fife have also been showing their charitable side with the Beavers helping out Tots 2 Teen Togs.

Vi Penman, from the Cardenden-based project, had visited the kids and told them about its work, recycling quality used clothes and making them available for no charge to the local community.

The Beavers, who were working towards their community impact badge, decided to design posters to raise awareness and over the weeks brought in bags of clothes to be redistributed.

Jim added: "Vi and Nicola came back to help the children sort through the collected items. They enjoyed sorting and folding the clothing and were pleased to hand it all over so that other children could benefit from the things they had collected."

Tots 2 Teens Togs runs from the Corrie Centre in Cardenden on Wednesdays from 10am to noon.

Donations of good quality used children clothing (no socks or underwear) is always gratefully received.
