THE Cardenden area was well represented on Wednesday night when Celtic met Partick Thistle in their first home match since clinching the SPFL Premier League.

The John Thomson Memorial Committee's party were guests of the Kano Foundation charity at the match to say thank-you to the players and adults who took part in the September tournament for school children.

The Kano Foundation presented the youngsters with goodie bags and a free ticket for a hot pie or chips at half-time.

The John Thomson party also met injured Celtic striker Moussa Dembele before the kick-off and he kindly agreed to pose for photographs with the Cardenden party and signed autographs for the kids.

The children also enjoyed, on their way to Parkhead, juice, crisps and a Mars Bar each.

Thomson Committee chairperson, Alex Burns MBE, congratulated the Cardenden youngsters on their behaviour on the day.

He added: "They were excellent ambassadors for Cardenden and I would like to thank the Kano Foundation for organising the day's outing which was greatly appreciated by all the youngsters.

"I would also like to thank Margaret King, from Bowhill Centre, for her assistance and also our six adult helpers, Moira, Mark, Jackie, Rover, Claire and Honor for their work on the night."

The match ended in a 1-1 draw and was enjoyed by all the young people. Pictures courtesy of Mark Cameron.
