CARDENDEN Community Council has a new chairman after the role being filled by one person for over 20 years.

The community council recently appointed Dave Roy to replace Alex Burns, who had served the community council as chairman for 23 years.

Dave said this week: "I'm very pleased to be appointed as chairman and look forward to working with the Community Council members and elected representatives and councillors for our war.

"It's an exciting time for the Cardenden community with many new projects taking off such as the new Synthetic Pitches and improvements to the Wallsgreen Park entrance and the proposed demolition of the old paper shop and Institute, which have become blights on our landscape.

"These projects wouldn't be possible without the hard work and dedication of the local Councillors, Community Development Forum and Community Council members, along with the many other groups who strive to improve the quality of life in our village."

The Community Council also has a new vice chairperson, Brodie Wallace, along with new Community Council members Mark Jeffrey and Sharron Taylor.

Added Dave Roy: "We welcome them on board.

"I would also like to say a big thank-you to previous chairman Alex Burns for his service to the Community Council and people of the four villages over the years".
