Around £1.9 million will be spent in the next year improving Glenrothes’ roads, footpaths and street lights with Kinglassie also set to benefit.

A report was presented to members of Glenrothes Area Committee last week, seeking approval for the Area Transportation Works Programme 2017/18.

Just over £700,000 will be spent improving roads in the Glenrothes area and nearly £1.2 million invested in footpaths, street lighting and road safety with three streets in Kinglassie to get attention..

Cllr Bill Brown said: “We receive many complaints about our roads and pavements, so it’s good to hear nearly £2m will be spent over the next year improving our roads, pavements, street lighting and road safety.

“Committee members have been able to prioritise the various works in the Glenrothes Area in discussion with transportation officers.

"This has led to scheduling work on three roads in Kinglassie, Mina Crescent, Sauchie Street and Pitlochy Terrace, together in April, rather than three separate disruptions throughout the year.”
