JULIE Ford and Craig Walker, SNP Councillors for Glenrothes West and Kinglassie, are pleading with Fife Council employees, based in the centre of Glenrothes, to stop parking in nearby residential areas and to use the designated parking spaces within the town centre.

Residents of South Parks, specifically those of Burns Road and Napier Road, have told local ward Councillors of the problems faced on a daily basis due to Fife Council employees insisting to park in the residential streets.

Commenting on this matter Councillor Julie Ford has said: “This matter was brought to my attention before I was even elected. Last year I met with Officers, on two separate occasions, with two separate sets of constituents, to discuss this problem. On each occasion the prospect of a consultation being carried out in regard to a residents parking scheme was mooted, but nothing seems to have come to pass in relation that".

Craig Walker said: "Councillor Ford and I have requested that the Chief Executive emails a reminder to all staff and requests they refrain from parking in these areas. We sincerely hope that people respect this request and understand the anguish faced by the local people.”
