A MEMBER of staff has been assaulted at Cardenden medical centre.

A male doctor was punched and struck with a wooden pole during the attack on Friday.

The incident led to a Court appearance for a Cardenden man.

Appearing from custody at Dunfermline Sheriff Court was 45-year-old Raymond Gordon, of Dundonald Park.

He admitted that on December 16, at Cardenden Health Centre, Wallsgreen Road, Cardenden, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by striking his own body with a knife, shouted, swore and acted in an aggressive manner.

He also admitted that he assaulted Sunil Sahu, who was acting in his employment there at the time, by repeatedly punching him on the head, repeatedly punching him on the body, repeatedly punching him on the body and repeatedly striking him on the body with a wooden pole.

Defence solicitor David Bell said his client was already on a community payback order and had also been in Court last week.

“There’s a significant mental health background,” added Mr Bell.

Sheriff Craig McSherry called for reports and a granted bail with a special condition that Gordon must not enter the health centre. Gordon will be sentenced on January 25.
