LOCHORE Meadows Country Park was the mecca for dog owners last Sunday as the 2015 Bark in the Park attracted thousands of people.

The weather forecast had been a little indifferent and the Second Chance Association, who organise the event, were wondering if their big day would beat the rain that was forecast.

But as it turned out they had no need to worry for the sun shone for most of the five hour event and the worst thing they got was some cloud cover later in the afternoon.

It was a bumper day for the park as people flocked in to enjoy a packed itinery which was welcomed by owners and their animals.

There was a host of stalls, and there were agility routines, flyball and Ore Terrier Racing.

Then came the highlight of the day, the dog show, where all sorts of breeds took a bow in front of very interested spectators.

The Second Chance Association’s Ena Conyon described Bark in the Park 2015 as the best yet, “We were a bit concerned by the weather forecast but the rain never came and it was a simply brilliant day.

“Ian Laing, the park manager, told us that he thought that more than 3000 people attended our day and they came from all over Scotland”.

There were Great Danes, St Bernard’s, Newfoundlands, Labradors, indeed virtually every breed, with dogs of all shapes and sizes.

Added Ena, “I would say it was our best ever Bark in the Park and we would like to thanks everyone who came along for supporting us.

“There was also the balloons being released near the end of the show and we must thank Balloons at Hallmark, Cowdenbeath and Dunfermline; who support us every year.

“Its really appreciated, it is brilliant to be able to watch them go up in the air.”.
